How a land brokerage works
A land brokerage, or landman brokerage, is a consulting shop of independent landmen. The broker works directly with your in-house land team and manages the project and the landmen on it.
Who does what
- Your land team sets the scope, the priorities and the standards, and makes the decisions.
- The project manager is your one point of contact. Plans the work, staffs it, watches the schedule and writes the weekly report.
- Crew leads run the landmen day to day, assign tracts and answer questions.
- Independent landmen do the courthouse, field and owner work.
- The QC desk checks every packet before it leaves.
The QC desk
Every packet is checked against the instruments and the deliverable standard before it reaches you. What fails goes back to the landman with a note, and the pattern goes to the crew lead so it does not repeat.
Reporting cadence
A weekly status report: work done, work open, findings, issues that need your team, and the crew plan for the next week. Your team can ask for a call at any time.
Ramp up and ramp down
Crews are added when volume rises and released when it falls. Changes to the crew plan are in the weekly report before they happen.
